Tournament Information

What is Spike for Tykes?

Spike for Tykes is a special high school boys’ volleyball tournament benefiting Akron Children’s Hospital. Each year, teams are paired with a "Tyke." A tyke is a patient champion who has overcome adversity with the support of Nationwide Children's Hospital. Each tyke represents a different department within the hospital. Money donated on behalf of a tyke will be donated to that tyke's hospital department.

Why Spike for Tykes?

Spike for Tykes is about giving back and supporting the hospitals who care for our children when we cannot. If you have ever had a child of your own in the hospital, you know how important it is that your child receive the best care possible. Every donation helps ensure caregivers are better enabled to care for your child when they are in need.

How can you help?

Anyone can help by attending the event and making a donation. Money contributed at the event and online is donated to Akron Children's Hospital. We've already received generous support from organizations and companies like the Ohio Valley Region, Sports Imports, and VolleyWrite. With sponsors like these, we are able to hold a charity event like Spike for Tykes.
